#hanoi #vietnamtravel #travelvlog This one feels a little different because….well, it’s finally time to leave Hanoi. But obviously I couldn’t just pack my bags and go without squeezing one more full day out of the city 😮‍💨 I started with something I’d been craving for days - a huge freshly steamed bánh bao from this tiny bakery just a few streets away from my apartment. You basically walk past a whole wall of steaming bao buns, smell them before you even reach the door and… yeah, there was absolutely no chance I was walking past 😂 From there, I headed back downtown for one last wander through Hanoi, ate way too many fried little snacks with an ice-cold soy milk, went coffee hopping again, tried iced oolong tea for the first time and obviously had to go back for that sourdough cookie that still feels like biting into a pillow….. And somehow my planned sunset turned into a cinema night instead. The movie was….weeeell, let’s just say there were a few moments where I genuinely had no idea what was happening 😂 I was the only person in the entire theater though, had a huge lounge seat to myself and cheese popcorn somehow became dinner. Could’ve been worse. And then….Huế. There’s something I love about arriving somewhere completely new. New apartment, new streets, first coffee stop, and obviously the immediate question of where I’m going to eat. I started with bún chả, found a really sweet little café and had a bánh mì that was completely different from the ones I’d had before. But my favorite moment happened completely by accident! I spotted a few tiny stools outside what basically looked like someone’s garage, saw some locals eating there and thought… okay, I need to know what’s happening here. A little Google Translate later, I was sitting almost at street level eating bánh bèo for the first time while the lady running the place and, I think, her son showed me how I was actually supposed to eat it 🥹 And honestly….that’s still my favorite part of traveling!! You leave the apartment having absolutely no idea that a few hours later you’ll be sitting on a tiny stool outside someone’s home, trying something you’ve never eaten before and somehow feeling completely welcome.
