July 22, 2006 - Astros vs Mets

It's a rainy Saturday afternoon in Queens as the Mets (58-38) take on the Astros (46-51) before a crowd of 46,574 at Shea Stadium. The game would start roughly an hour late due to rain. "El Duque" Orlando Hernandez takes the hill for the Mets. He gets off to a rough start, giving up homeruns to Lance Berkman and (son of Mets legend Mookie Wilson) Preston Wilson. After the first, he settles in and pitches brilliantly for the next six innings, tallying 8 total strikeouts while surrendering just 4 hits and 2 walks. Xavier Nady leads the Mets with a 3-run homer, in what would turn out to be his final homerun for the Mets before the infamous deadline trade sending Xavier to the Pirates.
