Can you hear the sunset? What if the secret to better sleep and a longer, more meaningful life begins with how we end our day? In Episode nine of This Is NOT About Longevity, Rev Doc Craig and I continue exploring the second of Dr. Arun Naik's ten pieces of advice for longevity: catching the first rays of sunrise and the last rays of sunset. This is Part 2 of our three-part journey into sunlight, health, and conscious living. We begin with the science of evening light. Dr. Arun recommends warmer, dimmer lighting around 2700–3100 Kelvin as bedtime approaches, along with reducing exposure to bright, blue-rich light. We discuss how our evening environment can help support the body's natural circadian rhythm. But our conversation goes beyond the science. RDC shares how he and Grace, his beloved cat, welcome the sunset together. They walk, listen, notice the changing light, and experience the smells and sounds of the evening. What might we discover if we gave our surroundings that same attention? We explore the poetic idea of listening for the sound of light, much like Horton in Dr. Seuss's story, who heard the tiny voices of Whoville when others could not. And then we turn to singing. I share my personal practice of singing HU, a sacred sound that brings me a sense of stillness and connection. We also celebrate Dick Van Dyke, who turned 100 in December 2025. His enthusiasm for movement, singing, and joyful living reminds us that growing older doesn't have to mean losing our playfulness. Perhaps longevity isn't only about how many years we live. Maybe it's about how fully we experience the moments we're given. This Week's Invitation As the sun begins to set, step outside if you can. Notice the changing colours. Listen to whatever catches your attention. Notice the scents in the air. And perhaps... sing. You don't need to be a professional singer. You don't need to follow a particular spiritual path. Just listen, notice, and allow yourself to be present. Maybe the most beautiful things in life aren't always the loudest. Less Doing. More Being. OneFamily. OneWorld. #Longevity #Sunset #SleepHealth #Mindfulness #HealthyAging #ThePowerOfDoingNothing
