Drop In: Canvas Course Accessibility Requirements

New legislation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) mandates specific digital accessibility requirements for state and local government organizations, including public higher education institutions. This new rule requires all web and digital content, including materials found in Canvas and on social media, be accessible so that every student can participate fully in all aspects of their education, regardless of their access needs. The new regulations require advisors to make necessary accessibility updates to all course content posted in Canvas or shared digitally that will be active when the amendments go in effect on April 24, 2026.
