📖 I put it all in one place — the five kinds of dirty, and what actually takes each one off: https://lacasalimpia.com
Look at your oven right now — the brown varnish film across the inside of the door glass, the spatter dots gone from tan to black, the flaking black ring under the bottom element where a pie boiled over. You bought the caustic aerosol in the tall can and knelt there with the window open and your eyes watering, and it came away in streaks and the corners never moved. So you told yourself it was baked in, part of the oven now, and you learned to run the vent fan early and never turn on the oven light when company is in your kitchen. Mi corazón, sit down. That crust is CARBON — grease baked and rebaked until there is no fat left to cut, which is why every degreaser slid right off it. Carbon has to be softened over hours, and nothing in a spray can gives you hours. It was never your scrubbing.
Today I show you the old way my mother and my grandmother cleaned a baked-on oven — in the right order, the whole of it — no lye fumes where your food cooks, no scratched door glass, no blown thermal fuse.
In this video:
• Why degreasers fail on old crust — there is no grease left in carbon, so it must be softened FIRST, never cut
• Test the peroxide before you trust it — a splash in the drain must fizz, or the bottle is dead water
• The paste that does the work: about 1 cup baking soda to a quarter cup 3% peroxide, thick like frosting
• Warm the oven to 150 and switch it OFF before the paste goes on, so it clings and works faster
• NEVER mix peroxide and vinegar in one bowl or bottle — mixed and standing, they make an acid that burns eyes and lungs
• The DWELL nobody respects — 8 hours, overnight, misted once so it never dries to powder
• The slot under the inner door panel — the grease channel behind the glass that makes a kitchen smell like an old restaurant
• NEVER press self-clean — past 800 degrees blows fuses, cracks glass, and fuses the latch shut
• Three habits: the 30-second warm wipe, a sheet pan under spills, a light paste once a season
Tell me in the comments what color that cloth came back when you pulled it through the slot under the oven door — and your county, how old your house, and how old that oven (the older the kitchen, the more layers are down there). I read every one.
