Ohio State went into Bloomington and snapped Indiana’s 22-game win streak, 19-15, in a game decided by the width of Nick Marsh’s left foot on fourth-and-4 from the 27. Ron and Kris break down the most stressful Buckeye win since the Notre Dame Chip Trayanum game: Jeremiah Smith’s 38-yard fourth-down touchdown, Jay Timmons’ forced fumble, a defense that held Indiana to 73 rushing yards on 30 carries with a long run of 8, and Matt Patricia calling the most aggressive fourth-down defense of the season when a lot of coordinators would’ve sat in zone.
Then the elephant in the room. Julian Sayin left in the fourth quarter and came back in a sling. Ryan Day says “several weeks.” Luke Fahey came in for a drive with zero completions. Ohio State is 6-1 with a bye, then a Halloween night game at No. 19 USC with a quarterback who has never started. Is it Fahey or Tavien St. Clair? Highest floor or highest ceiling? Kris makes the case for the upside guy. Ron says you lose your Lunatic Fringe card if you don’t argue about it this week. And both agree: Bo Jackson, Isaiah West, and the wide receiver room have to get hot right now, because without Julian the first read is Jeremiah Smith and everyone in the stadium knows it.
Indiana is Ohio State’s equal. Ohio State still owns the conference. Both can be true. O-H.
