Remaking An Old But Significant Sonic Fangame - Sonic Before The Sequel '26 - SAGE 2026 Demo

You can download and play the Sonic Before The Sequel '26 Demo from here: https://sagexpo.org/#games/3257 I don't know for how many times in a row Sonic Before The Sequel has appeared at SAGE, but here it is again for "I don't know how many" years in a row. And while at first I was ready to dismiss this demo as just another "someone showing up the same school project again", I actually sat down and played the demo and was really pleasantly surprised. They're not just remaking and improving the physics via a new fangame engine (this time using the Discovery Engine instead of the old Clickteam Fusion one), but actively improving Sonic BTS in subtle but noticeable ways, while still keeping true to the original, from things like subtle level design touches, background and character sprites, enemy behaviour and even revamped boss fights... it really elevates the original experience. And while I do admit, Sonic BTS, despite being a significant achievement in the Sonic fangame community when it first came out, that also put LakeFeperd, the creator of said fangame on the map, while also helping him kickstart his own indie game developer career... it is a flawed Sonic fangame and I vastly prefer Sonic After The Sequel over it. That said, after playing this remake demo of Sonic BTS, I've been warming up to the original fangame too and I urge you to give Sonic Before The Sequel '26 demo a shot yourselves, as well as wishing the people behind this project the best of luck completing it.
