Navigating Uncertainty: diffusion-based user intention estimation for wheelchair assistance

In this short research presentation, Fernando Estevez Casado at Imperial College London, introduces a diffusion-based AI system that predicts powered wheelchair users’ intentions by combining information about their driving behaviour, attention, and surroundings. The research aims to enable safer, more personalised shared-control mobility systems that assist users at the right moment while preserving their independence and autonomy.
