━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
In the fall of 1901, a timber surveyor named Harlan Creasey walked up into a notch of eastern Kentucky the maps refused to name — a place the old people called Tansey Hollow. He came to measure the north ridge for a Cincinnati lumber company. He left believing there are places that do not want to be measured, and one gap in the stone that must never be entered.
This is the slow, quiet account of what the hollow had carried for a hundred years before he ever set foot there — the lamp in the window, the salt on the sill, the one rule nobody would explain. No jump scares. Just the dread that comes in sideways, and stays.
Find a comfortable dark, turn the lights low, and listen to the end.

⚠️ A NOTE ON CONTENT: This story is a work of atmospheric historical fiction, inspired by Appalachian folklore, old surveyors’ and travelers’ accounts, and stories shared by listeners. While it draws on regional legend, all characters, places, and events — including Tansey Hollow, Harlan Creasey, and the figure in the Cut — are fictional. Any resemblance to real persons, living or deceased, is coincidental. Intended for mature audiences who enjoy slow, psychological horror.
