Icy Strait Point Gondolas: Ride the Transporter & Sky Peak to the Summit | Alaska 4K POV 2026 Ride both Icy Strait Point gondolas in full 4K POV, from the cruise ship docks in Hoonah, Alaska, to the summit of Hoonah Mountain. First, the free green Transporter Gondola glides through the treetops from Adventure Landing (also called Ocean Landing) by the Historic Cannery to Wilderness Landing. Then the red Sky Peak Gondola, also known as the SkyGlider Mountaintop Gondola, climbs more than 1,500 feet above Icy Strait through the Alaska rainforest. Soft ambient music plays gently over the natural sounds of the ride, with no commentary, so you can relax and take in Southeast Alaska from the cabin. Filmed on our Disney Cruise Line Alaska cruise aboard the Disney Magic, round trip from Vancouver with stops in Skagway, Icy Strait Point, and Ketchikan, plus scenic cruising to Dawes Glacier. Sailing with Norwegian, Holland America, Princess, Carnival, Celebrity, or another line? This is exactly what the Icy Strait Point gondola ride looks like before you go. On windy days and in the off-season, the cabins are unloaded and stored inside buildings at Wilderness Landing. From the summit, you look out toward icefields, the Fairweather Range, and Glacier Bay National Park, the ancestral homeland of the Huna Tlingit. The summit is also the launch point for the ZipRider, billed as the world's longest. Icy Strait Point only opens on days when a cruise ship is in port. 🎢 SAME RIDE SYSTEM AT DISNEY Disney Skyliner – Walt Disney World: Doppelmayr also built the Disney Skyliner, the high-speed gondola system that opened September 29, 2019, linking EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios with Disney's Riviera, Caribbean Beach, Pop Century, and Art of Animation resorts. ⚓ HISTORY OF ICY STRAIT POINT The Huna Tlingit people have lived along Icy Strait for thousands of years. Hoonah (Tlingit: Xunaa) sits on Chichagof Island, about 30 miles west of Juneau in Alaska's Inside Passage. In 1912, the Hoonah Packing Company built a salmon cannery just outside Hoonah, where Icy Strait Point stands today. In 1914 alone, it packed more than 2.3 million cans of salmon. The cannery changed owners several times, ran on and off until the early 1950s, then sat shuttered for decades. In 1996, Huna Totem Corporation, Hoonah's Alaska Native village corporation, bought the cannery and began restoring it. On May 23, 2004, the Celebrity Mercury made the first cruise ship call, opening Alaska's first Indigenous-owned cruise port. Ships anchored offshore and tendered guests in until the first dock, Adventure Landing, opened in 2016. The ZipRider opened in 2007, and Icy Strait Point was named Port of the Year at the 2020 Seatrade Cruise Awards. Wilderness Landing and the Transporter Gondola opened in August 2021, built in partnership with Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, and the Sky Peak Gondola followed in 2022. Today the restored 1912 cannery houses a museum, shops, and restaurants. 🔗 Official Icy Strait Point website: https://icystraitpoint.com Filmed: September 2026 on a 7-night Disney Magic Alaska cruise from Vancouver (Skagway, Icy Strait Point, Ketchikan, Dawes Glacier) Time Stamps: 00:00 Boarding the Transporter Gondola at Adventure Landing 00:20 Gliding through the treetops to Wilderness Landing 07:27 Boarding the Sky Peak Gondola 08:07 Climbing Hoonah Mountain 14:50 Arriving at the summit #IcyStraitPoint #Gondola #Hoonah #Alaska #DisneyCruiseLine #DisneyMagic #AlaskaCruise #ShipTour #DisneyCruise #disney #Cruise #attractionspov #DisneyAlaskaCruise #Vancouver #DCL #HoonahAlaska #SkyPeakGondola
