Shawnee Mission South at the 2026 SMSD Marching Festival

The Shawnee Mission South Rompin’ Stompin’ Raider Band and Pacesetter Dance Team are proud to present our 2026 field show for the bands and their supporters from across our district! The show begins with our trumpets lamenting another hard day of work by intoning the somber fanfare from Verdi’s Requiem! Listen to the full power of the Raider Band as the piece builds! The chaotic second number is from Anton Bruckner’s 9th Symphony….there is darkness but with moments of lightness in this music….like a day at work?? The baritone soloist is Shaefer Spizman. Things take a change to the exotic and beautiful as saxophone soloist, Ben Alexander, is featured on our ballad, Room To Move…we are going to make it through this day! The show concludes with the triumphant Finale from Mahler’s 5th Symphony! We have Clocked Out! Joy wins the day! The Band is directed by Field Captain, Abby Campbell, and Junior Drum Major, Nick Miller.  The Varsity Captains of the Pacesetters are Jayden Latham and Jolie Weigel. Thank you to Will England of ‪@wxexw‬ for the video recording and editing.
