Denizin Kalbine Yolculuk | Bülent Atabay ve Orient Express

1955 yılında başlayan bir yelken tutkusu, 1975’te Rakkase ile yarış parkurlarına, 1980’de Orient Express I ile yeni bir yolculuğa dönüştü. Atabay Onursal Başkanı, kimya mühendisi Bülent Atabay’ın yenilikçilik, mühendislik ve sürekli gelişim anlayışıyla şekillenen Orient Express tekneleri, Türk yat yarışçılığında önemli bir dönemin parçası oldu. “Denizin Kalbine Yolculuk”, Orient Express I’den VI’ya uzanan süreçte tekne tasarımlarının, malzeme teknolojilerinin ve yarışçılık anlayışının gelişimini arşiv fotoğraflarıyla anlatıyor. Ahşaptan cam elyafa, karbon fiber teknolojisine uzanan bu yolculuk, yalnızca teknelerin değil, yıllar boyunca birlikte yarışan ekiplerin, dostlukların ve paylaşılan deneyimlerin de hikâyesi. Bugün 88 yaşında olan Bülent Atabay’ın yelken tutkusu, Atabay Challengers çatısı altında yarışmaya devam eden Orient Express VI ile yeni kuşaklara uzanıyor. Film, 3 Ekim 2026 tarihinde TAYK iş birliğiyle düzenlenen Bülent Atabay Kupası kapsamında hazırlanmış ve İstanbul Yelken Kulübü’ndeki ödül töreninde ilk kez gösterilmiştir. Guided by the spirit of innovation, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement embraced by Bülent Atabay, Honorary Chairman of Atabay and a chemical engineer, the Orient Express yachts became an important part of Türkiye’s competitive sailing history. “Journey into the Heart of the Sea” traces the evolution of yacht design, materials technology, and racing performance from Orient Express I to VI through archival photographs. From wood and fiberglass to advanced carbon fiber technology, this journey tells not only the story of the yachts themselves, but also of the teams, friendships, and shared experiences that have shaped generations of sailors. Today, at the age of 88, Bülent Atabay’s passion for sailing continues to inspire new generations through Orient Express VI, which remains active in competitive sailing under Atabay Challengers. The film was produced for the Bülent Atabay Cup, organized in collaboration with TAYK on October 3, 2026, and premiered during the award ceremony at Istanbul Sailing Club.
