The May Day Eve in Finland (vappuaatto) is a fun and festive celebration of spring and the arrival of warmer weather. It is a time for people to come together and enjoy each other's company. One of the most unique traditions of the May Day Eve is the "lakitus" (crowning) of Uno Cygnaeus, a prominent Finnish educator and philosopher. In Jyväskylä. the ceremony takes place in front of the statue of Cygnaeus at Park Cygnaeus (Cygnaeuksen puisto).
