Blackpool deserves more respect: an American's take

An off-season visit to Blackpool, England’s most popular seaside tourist destination. It is loved by many, ridiculed by others, and often cited as a symbol of England’s “decline,” yet the town welcomed over 20 million visitors last year. The industrial working class was born in North-West England, and Blackpool is recognized as the world’s first working-class seaside holiday resort. As an American outsider, I found the city fascinating, with multiple facets I was only barely able to touch the surface of.
