I can and do use the 'fire tray' of the Kelly Kettle as a cooking stove, either with the grill or the 'hobo stove' attachment. The design of the Kelly Kettle is super-efficient when it comes to burning twigs - even damp twigs - and it's really simple to light, but these homemade fire starters or fire lighters make the process even more simple. The homemade fire starters are great and I use them in my Kelly Kettle, my twig stoves, to light camp fires, and at home for the fire pit.
