Bechem 24 Hour Market with DVLA - Water Projects - Hospital OPD and Ambulance Facility 4K

In this episode of Engineer Newton's Economic and Industrial Development Series, we return to Bechem in the Tano South Municipal District of Ghana's Ahafo Region to document several development projects currently taking place across the municipality. Our main stop is the Tano South 24-Hour Market, which forms part of the Government of Ghana's 24-Hour Policy and Accelerated Development. This is our second visit to the project. Since our previous visit, the project area has been fully fenced, construction materials have arrived on site, and foundation works are now underway. We were accompanied by the Tano South Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, who inspected the project and engaged the contractors on the progress of construction. At the market site, we also documented ongoing earthworks involving a LiuGong backhoe loader, with excavation and ground preparation taking place ahead of the main structural works. Our visit also took us through several other development activities in Bechem, including: • The existing Bechem Weekly Market, where a new facility is being developed to improve sanitary and personal-use facilities for traders. • The construction of a new DVLA office, which is expected to bring vehicle licensing and related services closer to residents of Bechem and surrounding communities. • The reclamation of a former refuse-dumping site, following the relocation of waste disposal activities and the introduction of skip containers. • A water supply project, including a poly tank and pumping system, as well as similar water interventions for surrounding communities using solar-powered systems and hand pumps where electricity is unavailable. • The Ultramodern Out Patient Department and Administration Block at Bechem Government Hospital. This is a legacy project that had stalled and was subsequently included in the Government of Ghana's 2026 Budget, allowing construction to resume. • The ambulance facility, where rehabilitation works are being undertaken using Internally Generated Funds, including roofing, internal works and new windows. Together, these projects provide a broader picture of infrastructure and public-service development taking place in Bechem — from markets and commercial facilities to water supply, sanitation, healthcare, vehicle licensing and emergency services. We will continue documenting these projects and following their progress as construction advances toward completion.
