2026-02-07 - Wintery Jackson Falls Overnight

Well, Summer is about over & it's high time I get this video from February out! Maybe it will have folks looking forward to when it's cooler again. To refresh, I was able to make it out for an overnight in Jackson Falls while the snow was still around & temps were cold. Looking at the tire tracks going past the creek by Jackson Falls parking lot, I estimated no more than 3 vehicles had tried to go past. Once past the creek that feeds Dog Trot Waterfall, only 1 going in & back out. Because the road from that point was still very icy in spots. Yaktraxs saved the outing for sure. Otherwise, I would have been losing my footing all over the place because the ground was mostly ice. I had Jackson Falls all to myself & had a wonderful night's sleep. The next day I spent hiking from the Southern Falls, by Christmas Tree on Little Bay Creek, veered over to the North Falls, Jackson Falls, Dog Trot Falls & up & out at Dog Leg Access. There were still ice formations on the South Fall & at Dog Trot, but only remnants at the other two unfortunately. I had a wonderful time despite the ice & cold and I'm certainly looking forward to doing it again.
