Just as Beijing has the Great Wall and Shanghai has the Bund, Tianjin boasts a landmark that has become one of the city’s most recognizable icons. Spanning the Haihe River, a massive Ferris wheel rotates slowly—reflecting off the river’s surface by day, and glowing brilliantly by night as one of the most striking features of the city’s nocturnal landscape. This is the "Tianjin Eye."
Officially known as the Yongle Bridge Ferris Wheel, it differs from typical Ferris wheels; rather than being located within an amusement park, it is built directly atop the Yongle Bridge. Spanning the Haihe River, the wheel integrates seamlessly with the bridge, the surrounding urban roads, and the architecture along both banks. This gives it a truly unique identity: a Ferris wheel built upon a bridge. Today, let’s step aboard the Tianjin Eye.
Starting from the banks of the Haihe River, we’ll climb into one of the cabins and look down upon Tianjin from dozens of meters in the air. Take in the city’s rivers, bridges, architecture, and nightscape—and discover why the Tianjin Eye has become a "must-visit" destination for so many travelers in Tianjin.
