Ingrid Riollot plays Sakura Variations, Yuquijiro Yocoh

Performed by Ingrid Riollot on a Greg Smallman & Sons guitar Sakura Variations is a celebrated work by Japanese composer and guitarist Yuquijiro Yocoh (1925–2009), based on the traditional Japanese melody Sakura Sakura. Through a succession of variations, Yocoh transforms this simple and evocative melody into a rich musical journey, exploring the delicate beauty of the cherry blossom through contrasting moods, textures and colours. For this performance, Ingrid Riollot plays her Greg Smallman & Sons guitar, bringing together the instrument’s musicality, fullness of sound and exceptional palette of colours with the expressive world of Yocoh’s music. 🎸 Ingrid Riollot French-Australian classical guitarist, concert performer, professor and lecturer 🌐 Website: ingridriollot.com 🎵 Find this music on the album My Guitar Sakura Variations is also featured on Ingrid Riollot’s album My Guitar, released in 2021.
