These are the first ten minutes of Meditation, in Alan's own voice, no AI. The full 28-minute film, remastered from the original tapes, is at https://alanwatts.com/products/alan-w...
Most of us think compulsively all the time, talking to ourselves, and so we live in a world of symbols and lose touch with reality. Alan on why meditation is the way back, why it has no goal (like music and dancing), why it is supposed to be fun, and the simple props: a gong, incense, a string of beads. It stops just as he begins the practice itself.
This is the opening of the film exactly as he made it: nothing cut, nothing added.
One of The Essentials, the twelve films he made in 1971 and 1972, remastered from the original tapes by the Alan Watts Organization.
