Such behavior is essentially deceiving oneself and others. According to Islamic teachings, truthfulness and sincerity are very important. Allah says in the Quran: "O you who have believed, fear Allahﷻ and be with those who are true." (At-Tawbah: 119) Similarly, the Prophet Muhammadﷺ said: "The signs of a hypocrite are three: when he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he breaks it; and when he is entrusted with something, he betrays the trust." This means that a Muslim should acknowledge their mistakes and strive to correct them, rather than giving themselves false reassurance. Self-accountability and striving to follow the right path should be among a Muslim's characteristics. If a Muslim acknowledges their shortcomings and tries to rectify them, it is a sign of their true commitment to the faith. In Islam, truthfulness holds great importance, and lying is considered a major sin. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "A Muslim is never a liar." This hadith highlights the importance of truth and the harm caused by lying. Lying undermines trust and creates societal problems. Islam always encourages Muslims to speak the truth so that society can be strong and peaceful.
