IELTS GENERAL TRAINING IELTS General Training is a popular English test for Canadian immigration. In this video, we discuss its speaking format, writing challenges, preparation strategy, and the scores required to reach CLB 9. For Express Entry, make sure you book IELTS General Training, not IELTS Academic. 2. CELPIP-GENERAL CELPIP-General is a computer-based English test commonly used by candidates applying for Canadian immigration. We explain its CLB score conversion, timed speaking tasks, computer-based format, and the skills you should practise before your exam. For Express Entry, you must take CELPIP-General, not CELPIP-General LS. 3. PTE CORE PTE Core is another approved English test for Canadian immigration applications. We compare its computer-based format, automated scoring technology, individual skill scores, and CLB 9 requirements. For Canadian immigration, choose PTE Core, not PTE Academic. 🎯 CLB 9 SCORE REQUIREMENTS Here are the commonly used score equivalents for CLB 9: IELTS General Training Listening: 8.0 Reading: 7.0 Writing: 7.0 Speaking: 7.0 CELPIP-General Listening: 9 Reading: 9 Writing: 9 Speaking: 9 PTE Core Listening: 82–88 Reading: 78–87 Writing: 88–89 Speaking: 84–88 You need to meet the required score in each individual skill. Always verify the current official score conversion before booking your test. 💰 DOES ONE TEST GIVE YOU MORE CRS POINTS? No English test automatically gives you more CRS points just because you chose that test. IRCC converts approved test results into Canadian Language Benchmark levels, and your points depend on your results and personal circumstances. Reaching CLB 9 can be particularly valuable because it may improve your language points and unlock additional skill-transferability points, depending on your education and work experience. ⚠️ IMPORTANT BEFORE YOU BOOK For Express Entry, your approved language test results generally must be less than two years old when you submit your application. Also, IRCC does not accept IELTS One Skill Retake for Express Entry, so check the official rules before relying on a retake option.
