Citizen Soldier - You Are Enough (Potang Flip)

After two years of pouring over this unofficial remix, it is finally here. I was introduced to this song during my junior(?) year when a friend sent this to me. The heartfelt words were nice to hear, and when I listened to the song’s composition I had a few ideas. One thing I wished was different was the choruses. I felt as if they were slightly lackluster, since my EDM ear always loves huge drops. So, I took it upon myself to flip it into melodic dubstep, one of my first attempts at the genre. I tried so many new things here. For the pre-drop, I was heavily inspired by Nurko’s remix of “Leave It All Behind,” by Trivecta. Making that part blew me away with the quality, and I continued adding more and more. This is actually my first ever attempt at rocktronic, as you’ll hear during the second drop. Thanks to ‪@TendrixMusic‬ for all of his tutorials, they helped so much! I actually recorded every guitar in this song, so the quality of the playing isn’t the greatest. Finally, the last melody I introduce actually came to me late at night. I was about to go to sleep, but then this melody came to me. I got out of bed to grab my phone and sketch it out on the BandLab mobile app (I don’t recommend, it sucks) to work on the following morning. All of this together made this remix special. The majority of the time spent on this was mostly mixing and small changes. I was delayed significantly by both personal events and also academics, so this came out way later than I had hoped. It was hard to work on this, because the project file is a MESS. Since I’ve been working on this for over two years, there’s a lot of things old me did that was… Quite dumb. It was hard to work with, so I just tried to work around it the best I could and focus on creating. I’d say it sounds pretty good though! I wanted to get this out before I move into my dorm room this Thursday. I uploaded a teaser of this song flip in a previous video that I had attached to my Common App. It may have had a small part in getting me into the university (you guys had a part too!), so I thought, “I should release this before I move in!” I also wanted to say thank you to the friends I’ve made over the years who’ve kept me sane and laughing XD.
