Welcome back! For this vlog, we reflect on Nagasaki's dark history and experience its breath-taking modern sights.
Nagasaki Peace Park - features the Peace Statue by renowned sculptor Seibo Kitamura.
Atomic Bomb Museum - this poignant memorial was built in remembrance of the victims and survivors of the atomic bomb.
Atomic Bomb Hypocenter - this marks the exact ground zero where the "Fat Man" plutonium weapon detonated on August 9, 1945.
Urakami Cathedral - as Nagasaki is the historical heart of Christians in Japan, this cathedral is the epicenter of Nagasaki's Catholic community, which was leveled during the 1945 atomic bombing and later rebuilt as a powerful symbol of endurance.
Mt. Inasa Overlook - this 333-meter-high observatory offers panoramic views of the Nagasaki cityscape, and its surrounding bays and islands.
Some graphic images of war victims are included. Viewer discretion is advised.
