Bukit Panjang Info:
Bukit Panjang, often abbreviated as Bt Panjang or simply BP, is a planning area and residential town located in the West Region of Singapore. The planning area is bounded by Bukit Batok to the west, Choa Chu Kang to the northwest, Sungei Kadut to the north, the Central Water Catchment to the east and Bukit Timah to the south. Bukit Panjang New Town is located at the northern portion of the planning area. Bukit Panjang has an average elevation of 36m/118 ft and a portion of this town is situated on a low-lying elongated hill.
Bukit Panjang is a quieter town compared to some of the older housing estates such as Toa Payoh, Ang Mo Kio and other more publicly discussed towns due to its lower population, but it has seen major developments in recent years.
Yew Tee Info:
Yew Tee is a subzone and residential area within the town of Choa Chu Kang, in the West Region of Singapore. Yew Tee is a cluster of Housing and Development Board flats and private condominums, made up of three neighbourhoods in Choa Chu Kang New Town. As a relatively new estate, a large proportion of its residents are young families and middle income earners.
Yew Tee is the name of a village off Woodlands Road. It is also the location of an eponymous MRT station serving the area, which opened in 1996.
Yew Tee means "oil pond" in Teochew. The village was so named because oil was stored there during the Japanese Occupation. It was once a bustling village housing more than 300 families, mostly small-time farmers who grew vegetables and reared ducks and chickens. Many of the residents moved away when development of the land began in the 1980s. It was then around 2000 when it was made as a small subzone under Choa Chu Kang
