1960s Belair at Bowie - Flaherty Video - Unabridged & Unedited

This is the unabridged, unedited version of a video from the beginning of Belair at Bowie filmed by Paul Flaherty on his 8mm camera and shared by his son Ken Flaherty. An edited version was also created by Pal’s grandson Spencer that includes some "after" shots for comparison. This footage not only has some nostalgic scenes, but it also has historic shots as well. Paul Flaherty captured video of protesters picketing the Levitt model homes in response to Levitt’s discriminatory sales practices. The Flaherty family were original owners in the Somerset section of Bowie. Like many others, they visited the model home, and they put a down-payment on a house that had yet to be built. Thanks so much to the Flaherty family for bringing us these videos!
