🔧 Everything I learned fixing HVAC for 25 years, in one plain-English book. 📘 THE HVAC SURVIVAL GUIDE - get it here: https://raydutton.com Your thermostat says 70, the furnace is running, and you're still on the couch under a blanket. Most of the time the furnace is fine. When the heat runs all winter, the air inside dries out, and dry air pulls warmth right off your skin, so 70 feels a few degrees colder than it is. Then you turn the heat up and pay to warm a house that was already warm enough. In twenty-five years of service calls, a lot of the cold-house calls I ran ended with a furnace that worked fine. In this video I go through the five reasons 70 feels cold, cheapest fix first: going by the thermostat alone, the furnace humidifier nobody turned back on, the damper left on summer, the crusted pad that gets a whole humidifier replaced, and the setting that puts water inside your walls when it gets really cold. For each one I show you how to check it yourself, what the fix costs, and when it's a job for a tech. Most of it takes a cheap humidity meter and fifteen minutes at the furnace.
