   • 840 HP, 9 Seconds & 42 Years of Ownership:...   For more than 30 years, this 1971 Chevy Nova has been a fixture in the Eastern Ontario drag racing scene — and its story is anything but ordinary. In this episode of Between the Wheels we meet Ross and Henry and uncover the incredible history behind a Nova that became much more than just another race car. What started with Ross trading a Buick Apollo for a 1971 Nova eventually turned into a unique collaboration between two friends, combining parts, experience and the powertrain from multiple cars to create the drag racing machine you see today. Built for NHRA Stock Eliminator racing, this Nova has spent decades at the track, including racing throughout the Eastern Ontario and Northeastern drag racing scene. Yet somehow, after more than three decades of racing, it still looks remarkably close to the car they built back in 1990. And that's exactly what makes this Nova so special. Instead of turning it into a modern show car, Ross and Henry chose to preserve the car's character, patina and racing history. Every mark and imperfection tells part of the story. For them, changing the car would mean changing its history. Under the hood is a 350 small-block Chevy, backed by an automatic transmission, with the car weighing approximately 3,390 pounds with the driver. The Nova has run in the low 12s, putting its estimated output around the 400-horsepower range. But this episode isn't just about horsepower or quarter-mile times. We take this old-school Nova out on the road, experience what it's like to drive a raw classic race car with no power steering and no power brakes, talk about its Stock Eliminator roots, explore some of the differences between Canadian and American Novas, and of course... 🔥 We let the Nova do what it was built to do.
