What happened to the Keeper during his final hour inside the Spencer Mansion? The Keeper’s Diary has always been one of the most disturbing little stories in the original Resident Evil. Through a handful of increasingly broken diary entries, we watch an ordinary mansion employee slowly lose himself to the infection, until his final entry on May 19, 1998 becomes the unforgettable “Itchy. Tasty.” Tonight, we spend those final hour with him. For the first part of the video, the Keeper lies sick in his bedroom, exhausted and suffering as the infection slowly takes over. At around 30 minutes, he gets out of bed and sits at his desk to write his final diary entry. Eventually, the story returns to the events of Resident Evil, as Jill enters the room and discovers what the Keeper has become. Almost 30 years later, that tiny diary remains one of my favorite pieces of environmental storytelling from the original Resident Evil. I wanted to imagine the human story that happened in that room before we ever opened the door. One hour of original Resident Evil (1996) music, slowed & reverbed, with rain, thunder and the dark atmosphere of the Spencer Mansion. 🎧 Soundtracks 00:00 — More Rooms 10:00 — Third Floor of the Laboratory 20:00 — First Floor Mansion 30:00 — Mansion Basement — The Keeper begins writing his final diary entry 40:00 — Safe Haven 50:00 — Second Floor Mansion 56:26 — Jill enters the Keeper’s Room Thank you for continuing to watch and support these strange little forgotten Resident Evil stories. ❤️
