Sailing the Southern Salish Sea

In January 2025 we bought a 1971 Cal 33 named "Smitten". My son and I sailed (mostly motored) her 100NM from Port Townsend to her new home in Olympia, WA. This was the longest distance I have piloted a boat, and the first multi-day sailing trip we have done in the month of January; the coldest darkest time of the year in the PNW. Our previous boat was a 1991 MacGregor 26, so Smitten is quite the step up. We are super excited to fix her up, and do some cruising further afield than the MacGregor allowed. This summer the big ticket items are to sail her to the San Juan Islands for a couple weeks, and also to haul her out in Olympia for bottom paint and new seacocks.
