Adam Harrington — Road to the Sun (Premiere, TMEA Region 9 Symphonic Band)

Road to the Sun is a fanfare for band that is inspired by the beautiful "Going-to-the-Sun Road" in Glacier National Park. This piece is an important one for me in my early journey as a composer as it was one of my first efforts to be more concise since at the time much of my work was becoming increasingly less concise. Road to the Sun is significantly scaled back (especially in its first version) harmonically and in scope compared to the pieces I was writing at the time and would write over the next year. Completed in January 2021, Road to the Sun sat in my files until my dad asked to perform it. Road to the Sun was revised in November 2023 before its premiere the following month.
