Isaiah 53:3,5 – “He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief… But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities…” Today the world falls silent. The heavens weep. The earth trembles. On Holy Friday, Love was nailed to a tree. The innocent Lamb bore the guilt of all. The sinless One became sin, so we might become righteous. The cross, once a symbol of shame, becomes our bridge to life. Christ did not resist the nails or the thorns. He embraced them. He embraced us. His arms outstretched were not in weakness but in infinite welcome—gathering the world to Himself. Holy Friday calls us to stand at the foot of the cross—not just in mourning, but in awe. To see our pride, envy, and selfishness crucified with Him. To let our hardened hearts break open. Our Lord dies our death to free us, both from our future death and from our present dread and apprehension. And in His suffering and death, we see our way of life. How we can live without fear, in holiness and righteousness before Him and for others, all the days of our life. It is not the end—but the turning point of history. So let us fall silent. Let us behold Him. Let us carry the cross with devotion.
