Again, thank you so much for the inspiration! :D -- The scene where Avlyn nearly falls off the cliff and everyone discoveres her magic, as well as the butterfly scene, were the first ones I created for this series, even before I worked on the first part. The battle scenes are manips I made before this series came in my head. -- PLOT: Now that Merlin is the Court Sorcerer, Camelot is attacked by King Ban, who is against the freedom of sorcery because he uses magical creatures , Orcs, to fight for him. If magic is equal he fears an uprising of his fighters. Merlin feels diheartened by the size of the army, but Arthur is optimistic, now knowing that Merlin can fight with magic. The sorcerer is surprised and delighted to finally defend Arthur out in the open. With his magic Merlin is able to capture an Orc woman, who tells them of the oppression of her people. (Not shown) Camelot defeats Ben and the Orcs are freed. Soon afterwards Gwen gives birth to her first child: Avlyn Pendragon. Before her Christening Arthur asks Merlin to bless her with magic in front of the Court to show the people how much he trusts Merlin to protect Camelot and the royal family. Merlin conjures up butterflies, which make Avlyn laugh. 3 years go by normally, until the day Gwen, Avlyn, Merlin and Arthur go to the forest to have a picnick. Avlyn is playing with butterflies, she loves them since her "Uncle Merlin" has shown them to her, and runs away. Arthur starts to worry, calling for her not to stray far. Gwen is calm, remembering how she and Elyan used to play in the woods alone while their father worked in the smithy. Merlin teases Arthur, Gwen laughs and everyone is so distracted to not notice that the Princess is following the butterfly to a cliff. Merlin is just about to help her, as the unexpected happens: huge vines grow under Avlyn, carrying her to safety. Everyone is shocked to discover that Avlyn unconsciously saved her life with her instinctive magic. Unaware of the excitement she has caused, the young girl smiles at her family happily. Gwen rocoveres the quickest, looking at her daughter with pride. Merlin decides to test if it really was Avlyn's magic and magically starts a smoking fire, asking Avly, if she can see something in the smoke, only for her to transform it in the shape of a horse. This incident starts Merlin's new job as Avlyn's tutor. After 8 years of reading magic theory Avlyn is finally ready for the next step: to communicate with animals, which she does with a raven. Avlyn still likes to go on picknics, having a wonderful childhood. At age 16 she and Merlin go in the autumn forest, trandforming the leaves into butterflies together, her favourite animals. -- Also a huge thank you to Wil1969 from whimsicalwanderings for the last butterfly scene.
