In this video, I take a ride on the 490 down to Heathrow.
This video was actually even longer believe it or not, over an hour. But I decided to axe the Hatton Cross to Heathrow T5 part for use in a different video, maybe a throwback? I don't know.
The 490 fall off is going to be so dark as the route right now has a really good batch of YY64s, some of which even still have their dayglow blinds in, which is a bonus. As well as YY64s, the route uses €5 E200s from the H25's allocation as well, but those are ass.
This route is quite long also to sit through and do an end-to-end on but it has some really cool sections, the best of which has to be the Hatton Cross to Terminal 5 stretch. Even though you're just going around the perimeter of Heathrow Airport, it's still a pretty lengthy chunk of the route and the buses can pick up some nice speeds on those roads, assuming you got one of the €6's. Even the MMCs are no slouch, though less exciting for me personally.
The route is quite traffic prone though around the Feltham area and on Harlington Road hence causing the journey times to add up quite drastically.
Route 490 runs between Heathrow Terminal 5 and Richmond, Pools on the Park. The 490 is run by Transport UK from their Twickenham (TF) Bus Garage using a mixture of Enviro200s and MMCs. Soon, the route will convert to a brand new set of Wright GB Kite Electroliners, likely later this year in fact.
