Kominternlied (English: Comintern Song) was the anthem of the Comintern, an international communist organization. Historical Background The Kominternlied (German for "Comintern Song") was created in 1928–1929 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Communist International (Comintern), an organization founded in 1919 by Vladimir Lenin to coordinate communist parties and advocate global proletarian revolution. The lyrics originated as a poem in 1926, written by German communists Franz Jahnke and Maxim Vallentin, reflecting the Comintern’s revolutionary and internationalist ideals. Hanns Eisler, an Austrian-born musician, composed the march-like melody to mobilize workers through accessible, rhythmically driven music, suitable for mass singing at rallies.
