The spiritual path aims to replace all desires with a singular, positive desire for God. Even seemingly small desires bind us to the physical realm. Suicide fails to achieve oneness because it lacks desire for God, leading to karmic consequences. However, selfless death differs. We mustn't merely give up desires but rather illuminate them with God's light and joy by accepting life's experiences, not despising our bodies or God’s work, sharing our desires with God, changing habits through convincing the mind to redirect its focus, and finally, dedicating all of our actions to God. http://www.swamikriyananda.org Swami Kriyananda reads and comments on his book "Conversations with Yogananda." TV series "A Way to Awakening" recorded in India. “People are more important than things” is one of the foremost guiding principles of Ananda. And “Where there is adherence to dharma [right action], there is victory,” is another. Yogananda arrived in America in 1920, and proceeded to travel throughout the United States on what he called his “spiritual campaigns.” Hundreds of thousands filled the largest halls in major American cities to see the yoga master from India. Yogananda continued to lecture and write up to his passing in 1952. Paramhansa Yogananda’s initial impact on the western culture was truly impressive. But his lasting spiritual legacy has been even greater. His "Autobiography of a Yogi", first published in 1946, helped launch a spiritual revolution in the West.
