Sodium is a reactive metal and chlorine is a poisonous gas, yet together they make the salt on your food. In this Grade 10 CBC Chemistry lesson you will see what happens to their electrons and what holds salt together. You will learn why noble gases hardly react, draw dot-and-cross diagrams for sodium chloride, magnesium oxide, magnesium chloride and sodium oxide, see the giant ionic lattice, and work out the formula of an ionic compound from the charges.
