LAPD SWAT - Standoff Unfolds in West Hills as Suspect Barricades Himself in Home

WEST HILLS, CA — July 1, 2025, 12:15 PM PDT — A tense standoff is unfolding at 22600 Block of Mobile St in West Hills, where a suspect, described as the son of the homeowner, has barricaded himself inside his father’s residence after allegedly chasing him with a large hunting knife. The father, unharmed but shaken, managed to escape and promptly called 911. Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Topanga Division officers responded to the scene and attempted to contact the suspect, who was last seen wearing blue shorts before retreating into the home and barricading himself. The suspect has not complied with police orders to exit the residence. The situation escalated when authorities learned the homeowner possesses a loaded shotgun inside the home, prompting LAPD to upgrade the call. LAPD’s SWAT team is en route to the location, equipped with a robotic device to assist in resolving the standoff safely. The incident, reported at approximately 12:01 PM PDT, remains ongoing as police work to negotiate with the suspect and secure the area.
