If he hired us to prep the forms and styrofoam, I would have charged him two thousand dollars for the labor to set the forms and lay the styrofoam. If you're going to install a concrete slab and you want to save some money, maybe you can do the prep work yourself. If you can learn how to set forms, set them to grade, and brace them in place, you may be able to save yourself a lot of money. This was a 24' x 24' x 6" thick garage slab with the edges thickened to a total of 12" thick. Setting up the forms correctly takes some knowledge and understanding of how the concrete guys like to pour the slab.
