unequal loops (no. 1)

a generative ambient piece Six tape loops of unequal length (19.7, 23.3, 29.7, 31.3, 37.1 and 43.9 seconds) play short phrases over a slow drone. Because the lengths share no small common multiple, the loops drift against each other and the same combination never comes round twice. Every note leaves a watercolor bloom where its loop's playhead was, so the painting is a record of the phasing.
