What happens when you leave the car at home and explore Los Angeles one step at a time?
For this adventure, I took Metrolink from Santa Clarita to L.A. Union Station and set out on a 10-mile urban hike through the heart of Los Angeles.
I started by exploring historic Olvera Street and parts of Downtown L.A., then headed toward Wilshire Boulevard and continued west through the city. Ten miles later, I reached La Brea, where I hopped aboard the Metro for the ride back.
Along the way, I got to experience Los Angeles from a completely different perspective — at walking speed. No freeway. No sitting in traffic. Just the streets, neighborhoods, architecture, people, and constantly changing scenery of one of America's most interesting cities.
Urban hiking is also a great reminder that an adventure doesn't necessarily require a mountain trail or a trip into the wilderness. Sometimes all you need is a comfortable pair of shoes, a destination, and a willingness to start walking.
Come along for the journey as I walk 10 miles across Los Angeles!
