Still Wakes the Deep | One Night on the Beira D | Live Stream Archive

What was supposed to be the beginning of Still Wakes the Deep turned into the entire journey. I went in almost completely blind, knowing only a handful of clips I'd seen from other streamers a long time ago, and ended up becoming so absorbed in the game that I played for roughly four and a half hours and finished it in a single stream. This also managed to do something I wasn't expecting: make me genuinely enjoy a horror game built heavily around escaping rather than fighting. Instead of constantly throwing chase sequences at us, the game mixed them with stealth, quieter exploration, environmental storytelling, conversations and lore. That variety made the dangerous sections feel meaningful rather than exhausting, while the Beira D itself remained interesting to explore throughout the entire night. I also played without the navigation/path assistance and found the environments considerably easier to read than I expected. For the visual side, I followed the game's suggestion and used the Monochrome filter for a darker horror atmosphere. It certainly gave the whole experience a distinctive look, although after finishing it I actually think I would have preferred experiencing those environments in full colour. Either way, this was an excellent surprise and easily one of the strongest experiences of Zaryus Spooktober so far. And we're not quite finished with the Beira D yet. Siren's Rest is calling us.
