What Will He Find You Doing? | Mark 13 Growing up, did you ever know the sound of your parent’s car? In our house, we knew the sound of our Dad’s car from what seemed like almost two miles away, and somehow that sound had the remarkable ability to spring everyone into action! 😂 Books suddenly appeared on the table, things were hurriedly put back where they belonged, and children who had been doing everything except studying somehow managed to look as though they had been diligently sitting there all along. Of course, as children, we thought we were very clever. What we failed to realise was that by the time Daddy walked through the door, the perspiration from all that frantic activity probably told him everything he needed to know! We may have looked ready, but the truth was that we had only started 'getting ready' when we heard him coming. What does any of this have to do with Mark Chapter 13? Quite a lot, actually. As Jesus sits with His disciples on the Mount of Olives, He begins to speak about things to come: the destruction of the Temple, deception, wars and upheaval, persecution and ultimately His return. Understandably, the disciples want to know 'when' these things will happen and what signs they should be looking for. Yet Jesus seems far less interested in giving them a timetable than He is in teaching them how they should live while they wait. Perhaps we, too, can become so occupied with recognising the signs, interpreting the times and wondering when He will return that we miss the very thing Jesus repeatedly tells His disciples to do: 'watch, remain faithful and live ready.' So this week on The Arcus Live, we are not setting dates or attempting to decode every headline. Instead, we are turning the question back towards ourselves. Because perhaps the most important question is not simply, "When is Jesus coming?” but “What will He find me doing when He comes?” Join us as we continue our journey through the Gospel of Mark with Chapter 13 and explore the difference between 'being ready' and 'getting ready'. Because maybe the lesson is as simple as the one we learnt as children: Don’t wait until you hear the car. Live ready. 📖 Mark 13 Don’t become so preoccupied with working out when He is coming that you forget to live as though He could come today. #TheArcus #JourneyThroughMark #Mark13 #DontWatchTheClock #WatchYourself #LiveReady #BibleStudy #GospelOfMark #ChristianDiscipleship #StayAwake #FollowJesus 🎙️ New to streaming or looking to level up?
