Film: REASONS
Genre: Poetic Romantic Drama / Tragedy
Writer & Director: Jayanth
Logline:
He loves her back to life, and the day she finally chooses to stay, fate demands a price too heavy for love to carry.
Synopsis:
Sunandha is a young woman who has grown up knowing what it feels like to be deeply, unconditionally loved.
There is a particular kind of love fathers have for their daughters—soft, protective, patient, and reassuring. Sunandha grew up surrounded by that love. At home, even her smallest efforts were celebrated. She was encouraged, appreciated, and made to feel that she mattered.
But the world outside her home does not always love people that way.
As she grows older, she finds herself struggling with the indifference of everyday life. The things other people brush aside—a stranger's look, an insensitive remark, a disappointing day—stay with her. She feels things deeply and carries them for far longer than she knows how to explain.
Over time, that emotional weight begins to affect the way she sees herself and the world around her.
The one person who continues to give her the sense of home she grew up with is Gopal.
He doesn't try to fix her. He simply stays. He listens to the things she cannot explain, carries the weight she struggles to carry herself, and reminds her that there can still be reasons to stay when she cannot see them.
REASONS is ultimately a film about that kind of love—the quiet kind that exists through presence. The kind of love we sometimes fail to recognize because it is always there.
The film explores love, emotional vulnerability, mental health, and the fragile space between wanting to give up and finding one more reason to hold on.
The title REASONS comes from a simple question at the heart of the film:
When life gives you enough reasons to quit, can you still find a reason to stay?
