I climbed Kharpocho Fort, the 450-year-old "King of Forts" in Skardu, Pakistan! 🇵🇰 Perched on a rocky ridge above Skardu, Kharpocho Fort was built by the legendary Balti ruler Ali Sher Khan Anchan. The hike up is steep, but the view from the top is unreal: the Indus River winding through the valley, green poplar groves, and the Karakoram mountains all around. After the fort, I headed to the nearby Manthal Buddha Rock, a huge granite boulder carved with an image of the Buddha over 1,200 years ago. It's a quiet reminder of Baltistan's Buddhist past, long before the forts and mosques. Two historic sites, two very different eras, all within a few minutes of Skardu town. 📍 Kharpocho Fort & Manthal Buddha Rock, Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan If you're planning a trip to northern Pakistan, add both to your Skardu itinerary.
