This is an OM-28 built in the later style, the kind Martin & Co. was making around 1932–1933. It features fine rosewood back and sides, a moon-logged and air-dried European red spruce top (Picea abies), a Honduran mahogany neck, and both an ebony fingerboard and bridge.
The top is finished in what we call “vintage gloss,” which allows for an even thinner lacquer film. That gives the guitar a woodier, more “played-in” tone right from the start — kind of like your favorite pair of worn blue jeans. We all want them to feel broken-in from day one, right?
Beyond that, you can see the body shape with its squarer shoulders, the large pickguard, and the standard right-angle tuners. This one’s got T-frets. Now, OM purists might argue it’s not a true OM unless it has bar frets, but those aren’t everyone’s cup of tea. We believe everyone should be able to enjoy the OM magic, even if bar frets aren’t their thing.
