This process is very easy on small valves like the one in this video. The gear luckily fits the stem perfect so no machining was required. When the gear bushing does not fit the stem is when it can become more difficult. The gear is a quarter turn worm gear. The butterfly valve is a simple valve but can come in many different trim and connections. This valve is a wafer with alignment holes style butterfly valve.
