Nouka Baich (নৌকা বাইচ) is a traditional boat racing sport in Bangladesh, often held during the monsoon and autumn seasons (July to October). It’s not just a competition—it’s a celebration of rural heritage, music, and unity. Boats are long (60 yard) and narrow, often manned by teams of 7 to 100 rowers. The races are accompanied by Jari-Sari gaan, folk songs sung by the rowers to energize the team and entertain the crowd. In Dhaka, races are held on almost every River, especially Buriganga near Sadarghat, making it accessible for locals and tourists alike. Boats used in Dhaka include Chhip Nouka, kosha boats, Chowra Nouka, goyna boats etc., known for their sleek design and speed. The atmosphere is electric—thousands of spectators line the riverbanks, cheering, singing, and celebrating the event as a festive spectacle
