Las Vegas history is the story of how a small desert town became one of America’s most famous metropolitan regions. From railroad beginnings and legalized gambling to casino resorts and explosive population growth, Las Vegas history reaches far beyond the neon.
Beginning in 1931, Las Vegas history accelerated as Hoover Dam workers, tourists, investors, and new residents transformed Southern Nevada. Resorts turned gambling into a much larger visitor economy, while Las Vegas history also became a story of water, aviation, highways, air conditioning, and suburban growth.
This documentary reframes Las Vegas history around one question: how did the casino boom help build an entire desert metropolis?
