Anish Giri is famous for his jokes. But at fourteen, he said his goal was the very top of the game. At sixteen, Giri beat Magnus Carlsen in twenty-two moves. And he has played in three Candidates tournaments. Nepal and Russia, Tata Steel 2023, the Grand Swiss 2025 and Cyprus 2026.
Has the man behind all those jokes ever come close to the world title?
